Tickets are just $3.00 per person--the same price to attend our annual County Fair. This admission "donation" goes to the Queen Anne's County Drug Free Coalition to offset costs for projects just like this--projects that help our community make an impact on the substance abuse challenges we face. The Haunted Trap House will not be a profitable event. We are fortunate to have state grants, county and local government funding, and generous business community donations to make this massive project a reality. Thanks so much for your support.
We know it can be hard for some families to attend an event like this--especially during hard financial times. We have a number of tickets we can provide free of charge. Please contact eric.johnson@hauntedcrackhouse.com if you are interested in such.

The Haunted Crack House project is the dramatic representation of what can happen in the life of a substance abuser. It is a best practice prevention program, utilizing logic models for guidance. With a spooky, haunted house atmosphere as a backdrop, guests are taken through realistic scenes depicting the tragedy of a young teen who becomes entangled in the web of addiction.
In 1989, the drug problem in many parts of Maryland centered around crack cocaine--hence the chosen project title, "Haunted Crack House." While the drug problem has evolved over the years to include prescription drugs and now the most recent opiate crisis, the community and family impact remains as catastrophic as ever.
An Executive Steering Team of county agency and community leaders was formed in January 2019 to chart a course for the project's 30th anniversary return and to conduct a community profile assessment, on which to develop a script reflecting the drug challenges facing the county’s diverse community. Kathy Wright, co-chair of the Drug Free Coalition reported that, “statistics demonstrate that fentanyl/opiates, cocaine, marijuana, alcohol, and e-cigarettes are the most impactful here in Queen Anne’s County.” Wright also serves as an addictions counselor in the county’s public schools, helping teens struggling with addiction.
Maggie Thomas, Local Addictions Authority for Queen Anne's County Department of Health, serves as co-director with Eric Johnson. “The opioid epidemic is devastating to our community. We have too many lethal and non-lethal overdoses in Queen Anne’s County each year,” said Maggie. “With this in mind, our executive steering team changed the name to, ‘Haunted Trap House,’ after much discussion and with input from the target population—middle and high school-aged students and young adults.”
The Urban Dictionary defines “trap house” as an apartment or private house, sometimes in public housing projects, where multiple drug dealers (known as “trap stars” or “trap lords”) do business. Trap houses attract teens from a wide variety of backgrounds. Trap house is now a genre of music and a subculture gaining steam in an epidemic that has claimed countless lives.
